Duties Description This position is located in the Warrensburg office within New York's Adirondack Mountains which offer a variety of year-round outdoor activities. In this position you will be directly involved in maintaining a variety of facilities that DEC has for use by residents and visitors of NYS.
This position requires a Saturday schedule from June 15th-September 15th, with pass days being Sunday and Monday and the work schedule being Tuesday - Saturday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
The rest of the year the schedule will be Monday - Friday with pass days on Saturday and Sunday.
This is a working supervisor position that provides supervision, training, evaluation and other administrative tasks on the behalf of subordinate staff. Duties include:
- Provide for the proper operation, loading and maintenance of Class A and Class B trucks, trailers and associated equipment.
- Follow Department procurement procedures and make appropriate purchases for tools, supplies, materials as required.
- Perform skilled layout and hands on journey level work including, but not limited to, masonry, electrical, carpentry and plumbing.
- Install, troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, floats, solenoids and associated equipment for lift stations and control panels in our facilities.
- Provide layout and material lists for buildings, residences, roads and pole-barns.
- Operate various hand power tools associated with all phases of construction.
Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.
Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
