Duties Description • Supervise the overall activities/operations at the Oak Orchard Field Headquarters. This includes assignment of duties to staff, oversight of projects, and work scheduling to complete necessary tasks.
• Work with other NYSDEC Programs, State Agencies, and/or Municipalities to identify, initiate and complete targeted priority projects. This may also include the task of obtaining outside contractor/vendor help through the bid process.
• Ensure all necessary administrative record keeping and activity is maintained, accurate, and current. This will include, but not limited to, time sheets, invoices, procurement of goods & services, evaluations, training documents, and warranties.
• Will be required to operate a dump truck and trailer for hauling equipment to job sites and service centers.
• Must be available to assist with emergency response to Flood Control events or other serious unforeseen Operations tasks.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 13 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below:
Open competitive minimum qualifications (70.4 transfer eligibles): Three years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; one year of which must have been in estimating, supervising, and planning and assigning work.
Or
Two years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; one year of which must have been in estimating, supervising, and planning and assigning work, AND an associate's or higher level degree in civil engineering technology, construction technology, construction engineering technology, electrical technology, electrical engineering technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, industrial engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, or mechanical technology.
If there is a viable promotion examination eligible list for this position, candidates who qualify based on Section 70.4 transfer options cannot be considered.
Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.
Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
