Duties Description Business Services Center/Finance:
• Process invoices for payment
• Analyze data related to payment to help develop efficiencies in the payment process
• Review standard work for completeness
• Communicate with vendors related to the payment process
Business Services Center/Customer Support:
• Meeting the teams, participating in group chats and brainstorms
• Creating flyers, documents, and training to help promote and educate BSC Customers (Employees, Agencies, Vendors) about the portal and other self-service resources. Update Help Center, RightNow, and SharePoint.
• Helping create internal references for staff to use when working transactions, tickets or forms.
• Update and create PowerPoint presentations and assist with project plans as needed.
Business Services Center/HR:
• Process HR forms/transactions in HR systems in accordance with standard work.
• Send standard template e-mails to customers after processing their forms.
• Participate in team huddles and share your thoughts and feedback in a professional manner.
• Interact with customers if they are missing documentation preventing you from processing a form.
Business Services Center/Purchasing:
• Sending RFQ Closure email which requires sorting RFQ database and checking if bids have been received in Outlook and RFQ Portal
• Emailing restricted period updates weekly
• Reviewing contract information
• Verifying contract pricing
• Maintenance of shared mailbox, OneNote, Access Database, and folders in shared drive
• Buy Desk inquiries
Business Services Center/Travel & Expense:
• Audit travel expense reports in the Statewide Financial System to ensure travel rules are followed per the OSC Travel Manual
• Outreach to travelers
The Business Services Center (BSC) was established in September 2012 to make Human Resources and Finance transaction processing consistent across New York State government agencies. Since its inception, the BSC has increased efficiencies and lowered costs across the state. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student. Documentation of Fall 2026 matriculation and enrollment in the Fall semester must be submitted with your resume.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Interpersonal skills – Ability to interact with and work well with others on a team.
• Organization skills – Looking for employee with effective time management, understands how to prioritize assignments, can effectively track and manage workload and report that to supervisor
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Technology skills – experience with Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook) is important.
• Ability to analyze a process and determine if any steps in the process need to be modified.
