Duties Description Duties:
• Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance repair work including grounds maintenance, plumbing, electrical maintenance, and equipment maintenance.
• Read and understand blueprints and written material to perform corrective repairs.
• Work independently and perform duties at a journeyman level.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other trades workers, both when receiving and providing directions.
• Retrieve daily assignments and maintain accountable hours utilizing AiM.
Operational Needs
• Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Asbestos certification required within 90 days of appointment as well as compliance with all related PESH/OSHA regulations.
• Able to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, platform lifts, boom lifts, etc.
• Able to operate a variety of forklifts (OSHA certification provided after appointment)
• Able to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and applicable building codes and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required for Appointment:
Four years of full-time experience in plumbing under a skilled tradesperson; which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program,
OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in plumbing at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services;
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Acceptable Proof:
Experience: A letter on letterhead from your employer that includes the names and titles of supervisors, the duties performed during the training period and specific dates of employment.?
OR
Appropriate course work: A copy of their transcript or listing of course work completed.?
OR
A copy of a trade’s union card.
Per Agreement between the Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. and the State of New York, Article 45 (d) the requirement to prove qualification shall rest with the employee. Candidates who do not submit appropriate documentary proof that they meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered for appointment.????
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
