Duties Description 1) Assist with inspection of regulated facilities, including Wastewater, Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations and Construction Stormwater sites and preparation of inspection reports.

2) Perform technical tasks including; checking computations, collecting and compiling data, and reviewing information to determine compliance with DEC regulations and guidance.

2) Assist in conducting water quality sampling in various locations.

3) Assist with complaint investigations as needed.

4) Provide administrative support to staff, including (but not be limited to) proofreading and final formatting of letters; filing docuemnts, tracking office supplies; scheduling meetings and calls; responding to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests; updating and monitoring DOW tracking systems; development of spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and other documents; and assisting with requests from the public as needed.

5) Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Open-Competitive:

Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter;

OR graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;

OR graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;

OR 18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.

Preferred Qualifications:
Applicant must be versed in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 9/30/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
