Duties Description Under the direction of the Environmental Stewardship Biologist, or designee, the incumbent will perform a variety of technical assignments to ensure long-term maintenance, protection, and resilience of ecosystems while protecting the natural environment and supporting the Agency’s broader mission. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• General invasive species management.
• Participates in various fauna and flora surveys.
• Conducts brook trout surveys.
• Collects and prepares fauna and flora samples for biological, physiological, and chemical analyses.
• Conducts surveys and compiles, summarizes, prepares, and proofs resulting data.
• Assists with water quality sampling.
• Assists in the delivery of education programs.
• Communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.

Additional Comments Operational Needs:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Must have a strong interest in, and commitment to environmental stewardship as well as a team-oriented approach to solving environmental challenges.
• Must have the ability to lift heavy loads, walk long distances, and work in a variety of weather.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior education or experience in environmental management or similar field preferred but not required.
• Experience with GPS/GIS mapping and data processing, preferably using tools such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS online, Survey 123, and FieldMaps is preferred but not required.
• Experience in backcountry orienteering and Leave No Trace is preferred but not required.
The position and duration will be dependent upon funding availability.
