Duties Description Reporting to the Chair of the Cannabis Control Board (CCB) and the Executive Director of the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), the Secretary and Counsel to the Cannabis Control Board (the “Secretary”) will be responsible for oversight and governance of the CCB meetings as well as providing legal support to the CCB.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare, manage, and distribute the agenda and materials for CCB meetings in collaboration with the Chair and senior OCM leadership.
• Assist in the conduct of CCB meetings by ensuring all procedural requirements are met and facilitate the flow of information.
• Draft proposed CCB decisions.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of CCB meetings, including detailed minutes, resolutions, and actions taken.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to CCB operations and decision-making.
• Act as a liaison between the CCB and OCM management.
• Manage and safeguard critical CCB governance documents, including bylaws, policies, and meeting records.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have been admitted to the New York State Bar and must have had seven years of experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as an attorney representing a regulatory agency in licensing and compliance/enforcement matters, including appearing in administrative proceedings and drafting proposed decisions, regulations and legislation.
• 10 years of active practice of law while licensed as an attorney in New York State.
• 2 years of experience as an attorney employed in a state government agency.

NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.

Additional Comments Note:
• Travel may be required (approximately 25%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
