Duties Description The duties and responsibilities are, but are not limited to:
• Ensure that the North Tower Elevator is in working condition and park policies regarding patron capacity, safety and oversight are being followed.
• Ensure the North Stair Tower and Elevator are properly maintained, cleaned, and cleared of debris at all times.
• Operate and drives a 15-passenger van (Non-CDL) or smaller that continuously transports patrons from the park’s lower-level parking lot to the upper-level parking on a predetermined route and schedule from 6:00AM to 11:00PM, Monday through Sunday including holidays.
• Interact with the public, answer patron questions, and provide courteous customer service.
• Operate a park issued radio and other state equipment to communicate with park administration, park stewards and other shuttle drivers/ elevator to report disruption of services, or to communicate other needs.
• Comply with agency procedures for safe vehicle operation use including completing vehicle mileage and maintenance logs during each shift.
• Ensure that the shuttle vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and organized at all times.
• Ensure that shuttles are properly and thoroughly inspected in accordance with the vehicle inspection checklist before operating each shuttle.
• Comply with agency procedures for elevator safety use including completing routine inspections and that maximum patron compliance is being upheld.
• Performing routine manual maintenance tasks including litter removal.
• Maintaining equipment and supplies properly and ensuring they are stored safely.
• Performing snow removal and maintaining grounds and structures as needed.
• Performing other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.


Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required.
• Prior grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by supervisor.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned and be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks’ work sites in the New York City Region.
• Must be able to work m i n. 40 hours a week, including weekends as needed, with occasional extended hours if needed.
