Duties Description The Office Assistant (OA) 2 you would supervise two or more OA 1’s and directly perform the more difficult or complicated clerical processing and office support work for which substantive knowledge of the program area is required. The OA 2 would spend most of their work time performing data entry, chart compilation and/or arrangement, and tasks involving typing into computerized systems.
Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS Minimum Qualifications:
One year of clerical experience where most work time is spent performing keyboarding, data entry, chart compilation or arrangement, or various tasks involving typing into computerized systems.
Reassignment and Transfer Candidates: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent service as an Office Assistant 2, Grade 9; OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to 70.1 transfer to Office Assistant 2, Grade 9.
Non-Competitive Promotion: If there are three or fewer qualified candidates interested in the appointment to this position, a permanent appointment may be made pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. To be eligible, candidates must be an employee of the Department of Health and have one year of permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, or office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
Promotional Provisional Opportunity: Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, or office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills; the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and to work cooperatively in a team-based setting. The incumbent will have experience working with a multi-line phone. The preferred candidate will also have experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Webex, and familiarity with using electronic databases.
