Duties Description The Digital Media and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for amplifying the Rockefeller Institute of Government's research and policy initiatives across all digital platforms. This role requires a creative storyteller who can translate technical policy briefs and data into compelling social content, newsletters, and multimedia assets. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who understands how to translate research, maintain brand consistency, and evaluate the impact of digital campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Content Creation & Strategy:
- Social Media Management: Develop and execute platform-specific strategies (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Bluesky, etc.) to promote reports, events, and expert commentary.
- Multimedia Production: Design high-quality graphics, short-form videos, and data visualizations using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Support podcast production through audio editing, sound enhancement, and music and effects integration.
- Newsletter Oversight: Draft, build, and distribute regular newsletters; manage subscriber segmentation and growth strategies.
- Website Management: Keep the organization's website current by posting new research, blog posts, and staff updates via Wordpress.
Media Relations & Outreach:
- Media Monitoring: Track mentions of the organization and its experts in the news; maintain and update media contact databases.
- Pitching Support: Assist the Director of Communications in drafting press releases, media advisories, and pitching stories to journalists and policy-focused outlets.
- Event Promotion: Coordinate digital promotion for webinars, policy forums, and press conferences to maximize attendance and engagement.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Impact Tracking: Monitor and analyze traffic and engagement across web and social platforms using web and email marketing analytics tools.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly reports that translate data into actionable insights for leadership, demonstrating how digital efforts support the organization's policy goals.
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience: Two (2) - three (3) years of experience in digital communications, preferably within a think tank, non-profit, or public sector environment.
- Writing Excellence: Ability to write "crisp" copy balancing professional policy nuance with the brevity required for digital platforms.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite).
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp).
- Basic knowledge of SEO and digital advertising.
- Experience with Wordpress or other similar Content Management Systems.
Soft Skills: High attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, and a passion for public policy and social impact.
Preferred Tools:
- Design: Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition), Canva, Tableau, Datawrapper.
- Word Processing and Data Management: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- CMS: WordPress.
- Analytics: Google Analytics.
Additional Comments Additional Information:
-Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $54,000 - $62,000.
- The state title for this position is Staff Assistant (SL-2) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
