Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for a Museum Exhibit Specialist 1 (Audio Visual), SG-15 in the Museum Exhibitions unit.

Under the direction of a Museum Exhibit Specialist 2, the incumbent of this position will coordinate with other Museum staff in meeting the exhibit production schedule.

Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Fabricate and install specialized digital, audiovisual and security devices, including lighting apparatuses;
• Maintain and refurbish specifically identified exhibit areas and elements pertaining to audiovisual, security and computer interactive exhibits;
• Support audiovisual equipment for museum events, concerts and lectures;
• Perform regular maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment, including projectors, audio-amplifiers, audio and video players, video displays, cameras, computer exhibit elements and security devices;
• Aid in exhibition installation, as needed; and
• Adjust and clean lighting devices, as required.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have five years of experience in audiovisual services.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This will be a contingent, non-competitive appointment. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $72,429 based on annual performance advances and traineeship advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts
