Duties Description Performs minor and, when required, major repairs, maintenance, and adjustments to equipment.
Repairs and adjusts valves, switches, regulators, lights, gauges, batteries, thermostats and safety controls.
Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets and flush-o-meters.
Recommends the need for major repairs, installation of new equipment, rearrangement of existing equipment, any additional manpower and specialized tools required to do the job.
Controls emergencies, such as electrical malfunctions and other hazardous conditions; locates malfunctions by tracing blueprints and diagrams of electrical, pneumatic and other systems.
Installs, maintains and repairs building lighting and power distribution, parking lot and plaza lighting, highway lighting, traffic controls and signals, emergency generators, communication systems, roadway, navigation and other electrical systems.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program, OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; OR successful completion of the two-year Trades Specialist (Electrician) traineeship or a two-year electrician training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program* such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
Base Pay: $29.51 hiring rate up to $31.95 job rate
Recruitment & Retention Pay: $3.37
