Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Performance Improvement and Management Services is seeking candidates for a Print Equipment Operator 3 position in the Office of Facilities and Business Services. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Operate all digital pre-press equipment, and software, including but not limited to all Heidelberg software, and Objectif Lune software;
• Operate finishing equipment such as a Muller Martini speed binder/saddle stitcher, Baum folders, an ITOH cutter and a large shrink-wrap
• Operate all large-scale offset web presses (king & Goss) and the Sakuri 4 color sheet fed press;
• Operate the Ricoh IP5000 digital press
• Operate a Rima counter stacker, and Gammerler trimmer, part of a web press;
• Operate all copy machines in the production unit included but not limited to the Konica Bizhub 2500, Ricoh C7200, and Xerox C-60 with knowledge of the software programs;
• Keeping track of and order supplies for all copiers and presses;
• Placing services calls as the point of contact when needed to address performance issues/production problems;
• Check and verify correct position of pages and legibility of print;
• Proofread and approve press sheets;
• Maintain a log of printed materials, and help in computing the final cost of print jobs;
• Systematically checking emails for new projects and additional developments in work in progress;
• Provide advice to people unfamiliar with the print process as it relates to the production unit;
• May provide technical supervision to Print Equipment Operator 1’s and Print Equipment Operator 2’s;
• Assist with the packaging and shipping of Regents exams and various other exams, in the Test Distribution Unit (TDU); and
• Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have four years of offset printing equipment operating experience OR one year of service as a Print Equipment Operator 2.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent, non-competitive appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
Verification of experience will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.
This position leads to a maximum salary of $61,548 based on annual performance advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts
