Duties Description This position is within the ITS End User Services Group and the incumbent of this position will monitor and manage ServiceNow Helpdesk tickets, emails and calls in a timely manner. Installing and configuring, desktop/laptop hardware and software.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide remote technical support via the Service Desk for NYSIF staff and external customers.
• Address service requests and provide assistance to end users as it relates to NYSIF personal computing, both hardware and software.
• Image computers.
• Provide new employee onboarding support.
• Configure mobile devices.
• Support all ITS Teams with hardware deployments, installations and system maintenance.
• Create and maintain user and instructional documentation.
• Assist with the ITS hardware asset hardware inventory, including the maintenance of hardware inventory system data, participation in the annual Physical Inventory and hardware disposals.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in good customer service skills when working with end users is required.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Occasional evenings and/or weekend.*
Minimum Qualifications For appointment via NY HELPS:
• One year of permanent, competitive class service as an Information Technology Specialist 1 at NYSIF; OR
• 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR
• One year of experience in information technology.
For competitive appointment:
• One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include, but aren’t limited to: Program Aide, Payroll Examiner 1, and Office Assistant 3.
Preferred Qualifications
• An associate degree or higher-level degree in Information Security, Computing Security, Cyber Policy, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Information Assurance, Network and Computer Security
• At least 3 months experience in Microsoft 365, Computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, Windows Desktop.

Additional Comments For candidates new to NYS, the starting salary for this position will be the bottom of the range displayed and is not subject to negotiation. For candidates that are current NYS employees, salaries are calculated in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.

NY HELPS Program:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
