Duties Description This internship is in NYSIF's Investment Department, which oversees approximately $21 billion across multiple asset classes. NYSIF is seeking high-performing and highly motivated candidates to join various teams within the department for the Fall 2026 season. The internship will give insight into NYSIF's Investment activities, including the implementation of several exciting strategies across the portfolio, specifically in Alternatives and Sustainable Investing teams.
• Alternatives Team: Specializes in private equity, private debt, and real assets investments. Interns will assist in market research, fund manager due diligence, portfolio monitoring as well as ad hoc project(s).
• Sustainable Investing Team: Interns will evaluate ESG risks, analyze sustainable investment opportunities, and support the development of climate-related frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications Enrolled full-time in a college, university, or graduate program in New York State and have completed a minimum of one (1) year of studies or a be a New York State Permanent resident enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program.
Team specific Minimum Qualifications:
• Alternatives Team: Familiarity with financial statement analysis and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
• Sustainable Investing Team: Interns should have strong writing and quantitative skills, with familiarity in statistical data analysis to evaluate ESG risks, identify sustainable investment opportunities, and support climate-focused strategies and frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint for report creation and visual presentations
• Strong writing skills
• Solid foundation in Finance, Economics, Sustainability
• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.3, or the letter grade equivalent
