Minimum Qualifications Applicants should have a minimum of seven (7) years of litigation experience, with a working knowledge of New York State Supreme Court practice and procedure and experience in handling contested court proceedings. Prior government or corporate investigation experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must possess excellent research, analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and write clearly and persuasively. Applicants also should be dedicated, motivated attorneys who have the ability to work independently and interact with a diverse group of colleagues, members of the public and other government regulators. The successful candidate will handle all aspects of matters from investigation through settlement or litigation.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.
Duties Description The Charities Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced litigator for its New York City office to lead civil investigations into frauds, breaches of duty and other violations of New York's not-for-profit and charitable solicitation laws. The Charities Bureau is a national leader in the oversight of not-for-profit organizations and represents the interests of charitable beneficiaries in a wide range of matters.
