Minimum Qualifications Assistant Research Scientist (G14)- Bachelor’s degree in in Biological Sciences or a related field and one year of post-degree professional experience in the appropriate field. Thirty graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.
Research Scientist 1 (G18) – Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and two years of professional post degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and one year of post-degree experience in the appropriate field; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Research Scientist 2 (G22) – Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and three years of professional post degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field and two years of post-degree experience in the appropriate field; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Strong background in standard food and/or aquatic microbiology and molecular biology. Experience with ELISA
Assays is highly desired, as is performing and analyzing TaqMan-based qPCR and/or digital PCR assays.
Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential. Experience working in an accredited
microbiology laboratory will also be considered favorably.
Duties Description The incumbent will be responsible for performing, analyzing and documenting results of assays that detect environmental microorganisms. Analyses include ELISA, end-point PCR, qPCR and/or ddPCR. Other responsibilities include assisting in testing for microbiological contaminants in medical marijuana products, and supporting programmatic functions, including ordering and tracking of materials and supplies and performing routine quality assurance procedures.

RS2 Salary: $68,238 - $86,398 (G22)
Permanent, non-competitive, fulltime.
