Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate or ABD (all but dissertation) in Agricultural Economics or related field
OR
Earned MBA with a strong professional background and interest in agricultural production management, entrepreneurship, marketing or food systems management
OR
Earned Masters degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management or Agricultural Education with strong professional background and interest in agricultural production management, entrepreneurship, marketing or food systems management.
In addition, the candidate is required to have:
1. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and cultivation of faculty/student relationships that facilitate student success and personal growth
2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students, the agricultural community and colleagues within and outside of the academic department; capacity to work successfully as part of a team is critical
3. Strong professional or personal background and interest in the agricultural field
Preferred Requirements
In addition to the aforementioned minimum requirements, it is also preferred that the candidate have:
1. Grant writing and grant management experience is preferred but not required.
Duties Description The Agricultural Business Management program at SUNY Cobleskill is seeking an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Business Management with a proven commitment to excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate is expected to teach and develop courses in agricultural business and food system management, farm management, financial management and agricultural credit/banking. This is a 10 month teaching appointment. The incumbent will be involved in student advisement, program assessment and departmental, institutional and community service. Grant writing and related activities are encouraged with this position and institutional resources are in place to facilitate those activities that generate resources for research, outreach or program development activities. Furthermore, it is expected that the successful candidate will establish professional relationships within the agricultural complex regionally and beyond.
Agricultural Business Management is a thriving academic program area on the SUNY Cobleskill campus, with 50% growth in enrollment over the past six years. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will contribute to development of novel programming paradigms, including online courses that facilitate student success and foster further program growth.
