Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis. Strong candidates will have experience in refrigeration, electric and electrical controls, pneumatics, process control and materials handling. Candidates must have the ability to work in refrigerated or freezer conditions for extended periods of time, and to work at heights above six feet on ladders, scaffolds, catwalks and confined attic spaces.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill one permanent Trades Generalist, Grade 12, position at the Cook Chill Production Center (CCPC) located in Orangeburg, New York. CCPC produces wholesome food that meets the nutritional and budgetary needs of its customers, which include OMH facilities, other state and government facilities, and non-profit agencies. Cook Chill is a facility which prepares large quantities of food with an extended shelf life.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Perform a variety of tasks related to maintenance and repair of food production and other mechanical equipment, in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and a preventive maintenance schedule, using hand or shop tools.
• Building maintenance including maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks.
• Perform electrical and refrigeration repair and maintenance.
• Materials receiving and processing.
• Plan and lay out construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
