Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in carpentry work under the supervision of a skilled carpenter, or completion of an appropriate two year technical school course in carpentry.

Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy. This position requires traveling within and between campuses. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred or the candidate should otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Duties Description To be successful in this position you must have a working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade. You must also be able to operate all shop equipment and tools in a safe and professional manner as well as identify various woods used in the carpentry trade. You will be responsible for:

•performing glazing work and structural woodwork repairs
•installing and/or replacing floor and ceiling tile
•installing drywall
•repairing doors and windows which includes mechanical hardware and openers

You will assist Journey level staff in the completion of complex carpentry projects and may also function as a lead worker on a project basis over Maintenance Helpers, Laborers and other relatively unskilled workers performing manual tasks involving elementary skills.
