Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in plumbing and/or steamfitting work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the plumbing and/or steamfitting trade.

Candidates will be required to explain and demonstrate their skills and competency for this position.

Candidate must have the ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, twist, and work at elevated heights using ladders and scaffolds and restricted access areas such as air handling units for extended periods of time.

This position requires traveling within and between campuses. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred, or candidate should otherwise demonstrate his/her capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Enrollment in or completion of plumbing courses and/or plumbing related work is highly desirable.

Duties Description This position is located within the Facilities Department at the University. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for assisting journey level staff in performing routine installation and repair tasks in the plumbing and steam fitting trade. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Cutting, threading and connecting pipe as directed
• Unplugging stoppages
• Replacing faucet washers
• Soldering pipe
• Safely using hand and power tools
• Working from ladders, scaffolds and confined spaces
Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions.
Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.
