Minimum Qualifications Transfer Qualifications: Any current Habilitation Specialist 2

Anyone eligible to take the Civil Service examination for Habilitation Specialist 2

Minimum Qualifications: One year of permanent competitive service as a Habilitation Specialist 1.
QIDP standards preferred.
QIDP STANDARDS ARE:
• The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) adopted the federal definition for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) in all ICF/DD, ICF/DD-H, ICF/DD-N and DD-CNC facilities when the Federal ICF/IID regulations became effective in October 1988. The federal criteria outdates the state regulations specified in the California Code of Regulations, Title 22.
• QIDP is a staff who is responsible for integrating, coordinating and monitoring each client's active treatment and who possesses:
• (a) At least one year of experience working directly with persons with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities.
• (b) Is either a physician and surgeon, or a osteopathy physician and surgeon, a registered nurse, or a human services professional possessing at least a bachelor's degree in a human services field, including but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling or psychology.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The incumbent has primary responsibility for the QIDP function in compliance with the ICF regulations. (S)he will orchestrate all facets of the active treatment effort, including the creation of relevant IPPs tailored to meet the individual’s needs.
• Routinely observing clients across settings in program areas to assess effectiveness of program implementation and consistency of training effort to determine effectiveness of IPPs and making timely modifications to facilitate achieving desired skills or goals.
• Routinely interacting with program staff across settings to assist in determining the effectiveness and continued relevance of program plans in meeting identified client needs.
• Determining the need for program revision based on client performance.
• Identifying inconsistencies in training approaches or programs not being implemented as written and facilitating the resolution of these inconsistencies.
• Assures follow-up occurs for any recommendation for services, equipment or programs so that needed services and supplies are provided in a timely manner to meet the client’s needs.
• Responds to Duress Alarms. May require availability to participate in SCIP interventions, which will require maintaining current Promote/SCIP-R training.
• Advocates for the needs of the individuals assigned.
• Schedules annual, quarterly and special team meetings as required by individual need, chairs meetings and ensures recommendations/needs are addressed adequately, and documents these meetings.
• Works with the Treatment Team Leader and Development Assistant III to assure that issues related to staffing, physical plant and budgeting are impacting positively on the active treatment progress.
• Assist in placement coordination for consumer by providing relevant information to the receiving team in a timely manner and coordination of the treatment team for information sharing opportunities.
• Assist with maintenance and development of the daily program schedule, development of day program schedule and coordination services to implement daily program schedule according to each consumers identified needs.
• Other duties as directed/assigned.
• May be required to teach classes.
