Minimum Qualifications Valid New York State Architect License and current registration.

Duties Description Senior Architects in the Department of State provide technical assistance on code issues to local government officials, design professionals, and the general public. Incumbents participate in the general administration and enforcement of the code; providing advice and guidance to individuals and groups. They assist or otherwise perform technical reviews of plans and specifications to insure conformance with the uniform code. Incumbents also assist in the process for rule making concerning the amendments to the Uniform Code and the Energy Code. They may research, draft, and prepare proposed amendments, and assist in the promulgation of official interpretations. Senior Architects may also be asked to provide post-disaster damage assessments and supervise volunteer code enforcement disaster assistance response program participants.
