To qualify for this position, you MUST meet the following requirements:
You must be licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State and have a bachelor's degree in nursing OR present a notarized letter from the registrar as proof of status as a matriculated senior in a baccalaureate nursing program (you must obtain your degree within one year of the date of appointment or action will be taken to remove you from the position), AND have two years of full-time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency; OR a master's degree or doctorate in nursing and one year of full-time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience.
Duties Description As a Nurse 3 (Psychiatric), you would provide direct nursing care to patients with the most severe or complicated psychiatric, chemical dependency, and/or medical problems and act as a consultant, teacher and resource person to lower level nurses and other direct care staff. You are expected to operate with a considerable degree of independence and use professional judgment in solving all but the most difficult nursing care problems.

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Posted Salary Range includes a Geographic Differential ($8,000) added to the statutory hiring rate ($70,726).
Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment.
