Minimum Qualifications You must take and pass a civil service examination in order to be considered for this position. Candidates must have a current New York state Education Department Perm/Pro certification in class room teaching in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certificate teaching experience in the same specialty.

Duties Description As a teacher under general supervision and with considerable independence of judgment and action, you will teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects. The duties include preparing course and unit outlines, lesson plans, education progress reports, individual education plans, and acting as a advisor to student group and organizations. Teacher at each level preform specialized tasks with emphasis on the identification of detection of skills. this involves development of a plan and objectives for remedial education and evaluation of the growth and development of the student's competency in the stated skills objectives.
