Minimum Qualifications One year of experience as a skilled journey level electrician subsequent to the completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Experience in troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of high voltage equipment (transformers, switchboards, generators), card access systems, fire alarm systems, camera surveillance, VFD, PLC, DDC, UPS, Arc Flash Hazards and PPE systems. Knowledge of basic personal computer operations. Working knowledge of the National Electric Codes and Building Codes. Familiarity of laboratory systems and equipment.
Duties Description This position will function as a working supervisor responsible for coordinating the operation, maintenance, repair and maintenance of the electrical systems and various components at the Wadsworth Center/David Axelrod Institute and Griffin Laboratory. The incumbent will perform and supervise modifications to the electrical systems necessary to meet the changing needs of the laboratory; layout electrical requirements for rehab projects and calculate estimates for material and labor; prepare and submit purchase requests; perform and supervise emergency repairs; and maintain records for shop inventory. Responsibilities will also include set up, perform and monitor the preventive maintenance program and inventory of all electrical systems and equipment; provide training and instruction to all personnel in electrical safety and systems design as well as supervise electrical shop employees.
Additional Comments Permanent, non-competitive, fulltime. Possible overtime required. Valid driver’s license required. Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position, candidates who accept appointment may be required to wear personal protective equipment, undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluation, and receive specific immunizations. In addition, dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent re-assignment, background checks may also be required.
