Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be physically able to perform the duties assigned, including the ability to perform activities requiring medium to heavy lifting. Candidates must also possess a valid New York State driver’s license.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Facilities and Business Services is seeking candidates for two Facility Operations Assistant 1 positions. Duties of these positions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Empty recyclables and garbage;
• Set up conference rooms;
• Change lightbulbs;
• Remove boxes from the stacks and bring boxes into the stacks;
• Deliver and pickup recycle bins throughout the building and various office;
• Pickup and deliver skids and boxes;
• Deliver copy paper to various offices and locations;
• Pickup and deliver surplus materials;
• Bring scrap metal to the scrap yard;
• Clean up and maintain the grounds, including salting, shoveling snow, plowing snow, mowing lawns, and pulling weeds;
• Move furniture boxes and other heavy equipment and material;
• Prepare cars for staff and drive staff as needed;
• Work with all trades as directed; and
• Perform other duties as needed.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: These will be a permanent appointments. Promotions and transfers may change appointee’s negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of a valid New York State driver’s license will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Candidates are required to possess a valid New York State driver’s license at the time of hire. Continued employment as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 is dependent upon maintaining a valid New York State driver’s license. Failure to maintain a valid New York State driver’s license will result in removal from employment. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $37,891 with annual performance advances.
