Minimum Qualifications To be considered, candidates must have:
1. An appropriate professional degree, and New York State
licensure/certification where applicable,*
2. Seven (7) years of responsible administrative management
or supervisory experience providing service to people
diagnosed with mental illness, including at least one year in
an administrative/management position comparable to an
executive staff level position in a psychiatric center, research
institute, or developmental center.**
*Physician applicants who possess a N.Y.S. limited permit and who are licensed in another state or possess a Canadian license issued on the basis of a written examination may be considered for appointment while applying for New York State licensure. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining a current New York State limited permit or obtaining full N.Y.S. licensure.
**Physicians may substitute two (2) years of experience at the Chief of Service level for the one (1) year of executive level experience. Certification in Psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or clearly equivalent certifying body is preferred for physician applicants.
Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.
Duties Description The Executive Director, Psychiatric Center serves as the Chief Executive Officer of KPC and performs all the duties and functions prescribed in Section 7.21 of the New York State Mental Hygiene Law. Through general supervision and close collaboration with the facility’s Executive Cabinet, the Executive Director is responsible for the administrative leadership and direction of all clinical and non-clinical programs and activities of the facility. The Executive Director works closely with OMH’s Central Office Division of State Operations, the New York City Field Office, local government units, and a network of community providers to ensure continuity of care and effective delivery of services.
Additional Comments Kingsboro Psychiatric Center (KPC), a Joint Commission (TJC) accredited mental health facility located on a historic campus in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director, Psychiatric Center. KPC provides comprehensive, integrated services 24 hours per day for hospitalized patients and operates three Transitional Living Residences; an 80-bed Family Care Program with certified homes in the community; a satellite clinic on campus; and two community-based outpatient clinics located in the Canarsie and Williamsburg neighborhoods that provide assessment and treatment planning; health screening and referrals; discharge planning; verbal therapies; medication therapy; medication education; symptoms management; psychiatric rehabilitation readiness determination; case management; crisis management; clinical support; mobile outreach; and family support services. Background Investigation and Fees:
All prospective employees will be fingerprinted and undergo a complete Criminal Background Check against New York State and federal criminal history records. Candidates will also be subject to a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, and the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) maintained by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
