Minimum Qualifications Reachable on Civil Service Eligible List OR One year of permanent, competitive service as an Assistant Training Technician (Youth Services).
OR
Two years of experience providing direct care services to court adjudicated youth in a residential facility.

AND

Responsible for conducting at least fifty hours of formal training* within the last two years to direct care services staff in areas such as “Crisis Management/ Physical Restraint, Standard First Aide/CPR or HIV/AIDS education. (Please submit a roster of facilitated trainings, including dates, times/hours, and attendees to be considered qualified.)


*In order to be considered as formal training, the courses must include structured lesson plan(s) and documentation of trainee attendance and successful completion of course. A valid driver’s license is required to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Duties Description Responsibilities include: Conduct training sessions or portions thereof, focusing on developing or refreshing skills of direct-care staff and direct service staff; as needed, in the Juvenile Justice Training modules which include but are not limited to: NY Model, Crisis Prevention and Management (CPM), First Aid/CPR/AED, Mental Health Training for Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY), Safety and Security in Facilities.

Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, arrange classrooms, and demonstrate first aid/CPR, and safety & restraint techniques. Maintain training records, coordinate training space, and confirm participation of co-trainers, presenters and participants.

Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Additional Comments In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, you must have signed up for the Assistant Training Technician exam that closes on 2/20/19.

Travel may be required.

Background Investigation Requirements:

1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.

2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.

3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
