• Business and system requirements analysis.
• System design and integration plan development.

Duties Description Primary Purpose
The Senior Application Support Specialist is responsible for the documentation, research, and analysis of complex business, system, and data requirements. The Senior Application Support Specialist is also responsible for configuring and customizing integrated application solutions, and implementing data models.

Essential Functions
• Collaborate with users to analyze business and system requirements. Develop process and data flow diagrams. Review process flows developed by other staff.
• Document complex business and system requirements.
• Develop solution design, and application configuration plans.
• Implement, configure, customize, and manage software solutions hosted onsite and in the cloud.
• Lead and participate in project planning, execution, and implementation.
• Manage project budget and schedule.
• Contribute to cost/benefit analysis of technology solution options and identification of the best solution.
• Design and develop data extracts, reports, interactive dashboards, and interfaces between systems.
• Design and build data models and stored procedures to support extracts and reports.
• Develop reports and dashboards to support program needs.
• Review, test, and approve database code, dashboard, and reports developed by other staff.
• Provide administrative support to applications in production environment. Troubleshoot and coordinate application fixes.
• Contribute to the team as a subject-matter-expert and collaborate with co-workers to troubleshoot applications.
• Work directly with external technology vendors to troubleshoot defects and configure new applications. Manage vendor implementation cost.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Train other employees.
• Perform security administration functions regarding user accounts and passwords for applications and reports.
• Assist the Information Security Officer in identifying and applying appropriate security controls for user access to business information and submit updates to the Disaster Recovery Plan when system changes occur.
• Ensure compliance with DASNY and NYS policies.
• Assist with the development, documentation and implementation of procedures.
• Assist with the assessment/development and implementation of internal controls, and participate in the review and testing of same.
• Undertake special assignments as directed.
• Must maintain regular attendance in accordance with DASNY attendance and leave policies.
• Must adhere to the NYS Information Security Policy Standards established and issued by the Office of Information Technology Services. (Standards can be found on the Intranet).

Additional Comments Supervision
Supervision of employees may be required.

Physical/Mental/Visual Demands
Occasional travel is required using public transportation, DASNY vehicle, rental vehicle or personal vehicle. This travel may include overnight stays at public accommodations and related establishments. Requires complex and time-pressured decision-making. Overtime or extended work hours may be required.
