Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have two years of experience in maintenance, or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades person or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.

Duties Description - Will perform campground maintenance (such as lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes, shovels, push lawnmowers and cleaning toilets). Must be able and willing to perform duties in the Campground Recycle Center, i.e.. process refuse, deposit containers and recyclables as mandated by New York State, County and Local Landfill policies. Must accept instruction in operating policies and abide by them. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.
- Must be capable and willing to enforce campsite rules and regulations through period of employment.
- May be called on to answer routine questions of park patrons and need to provide customer service that will enhance the public’s stay at facility. Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public as well as subordinates.
-Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary closeout Revenue Reports. Must be capable of operating a personal computer to register campers. Must be able and willing to supervise 3 or more persons (including Laborers, Park Rangers, Lifeguards) during absence of the Facility Supervisor, or at the direction of the CRFS. Ensure that LATS is submitted/approved by the Friday following end of the pay period.
-Must be responsible, in the absence of the Facility Supervisor, for correct completion of camping permits, revenue reports, subordinate job assignments and completions, and camper registration/site assignments.
-Must understand and comply with all directives within the Campground Operations Manual at all times.
-May be required to stay at the campground overnight during the absence of the CRFS, as directed by the CRFS.
-Performs a variety of semiskilled carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, masonry and related work in maintaining, repairing and constructing a wide variety of park structures, roads and other facilities.
-Operates and performs such preventative maintenance as lubrication and making of minor adjustments on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers, power saws and like equipment.
- Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts.
-Must be punctual, reporting for work on time.
-Must refrain from using state equipment including vehicles, telephone, Internet, mechanical tools, or assigned work equipment (tools) for anything other than official state business.
-This position, unique to Campground operation, requires that you be well groomed, wear appropriate attire or assigned uniform, including work shoes, no sneakers.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must reside in State Housing.

This is a temporary appointment with a duration of 04/25/19 - 10/31/19.
