Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this position. You must be physically able to perform the duties assigned. Availability to work a rotating weekend and holiday schedule is mandatory. Animal husbandry skills or experience raising game birds is preferred.
Duties Description Responsible for the daily tasks associated with raising Ring-necked pheasants such as feeding, watering, recording daily data, monitoring flock health, cleaning nurseries and preparing nursery pens for new chicks, operating tractors and backing up trailers, set up and tear down of seasonal flight pens assisting with moving various age classes of pheasants to different pens on the farm and delivering pheasant chicks and adult's throughout New York State.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
These are seasonal, hourly appointments with a duration of 4/1/19 through 11/30/19. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to dates listed. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
