Minimum Qualifications You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. You must have a New York State license to practice as a registered professional nurse and certification by the New York State Education Department in a specialty area to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
You must meet the current requirements as prescribed by the New York State Board of Nursing.
Duties Description As a Nurse Practitioner, you would provide primary health care working in collaboration with a licensed physician or physicians. You would assess the physical and psychosocial state of clients by means of interview, health history, physical exam and diagnostic test in accordance with a written practice agreement and protocols that include specialty areas and are agreed upon in advance by you and the physician of record. Your work may include the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions and performance of therapeutic and corrective measures. You may also perform employee health exams in accordance with the practice agreements.
