Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or 120 college credits in an agricultural or natural resources discipline and one year of agriculture administration work experience.
Duties Description This position will assist in the program administration and technical support as it pertains to the delivery of the State’s Agricultural Districts Program as authorized in under (Article 25-AA).
Duties include: Responds to information requests including questions received from phone calls and the internet to explain the Agriculture and Markets Law and other State Laws that affect farm operations; meets with agricultural landowners to discuss project(s) and potential site-specific impacts and concerns as it pertains to Agricultural Districts Law as needed; conducts reviews of municipal rules, regulations, ordinances and land use plans and the administration of the same as they affect farm operations located within a county adopted, State certified agricultural district; works with local governments as needed to advance the purposes of Article 25-AA; prepares substantive correspondents detailing on farm investigations with technical references as necessary; conducts technical analysis of state and local laws as applied to farm operations; reviews technical documents associated with the siting of public utilities on farmland; prepares technical briefs and testimony as needed; completes site investigations, construction compliance inspections, and the validation of restoration mitigation projects as needed; develops correspondence, program guidance documents and other related material as needed; develops and delivers presentation, charts and other outreach media in support of program goals; works cooperatively with the Department’s Counsel to identify information needs and assist with the development of various technical reports resulting from farm investigations; acts as lead for projects involving the Department’s Counsel as directed.
