Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in library science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association. In addition, must have 5 years of post-degree professional librarian experience including 3 years in a responsible administrative or management capacity in a large law library (at least 20,000 volumes). Graduation from law school may be substituted for 2 years of the professional librarian experience but not for the administrative or management experience. Appropriate part-time and volunteer experience, which can be verified, will be accepted on a prorated basis.

Duties Description • Manage and operate library centers in Albany and New York City and coordinate with Regional Office libraries.
• Provide reference services to all staff.
• Negotiate contract services for on-line research tools.
• Plan for long-term growth including keeping up with latest technological developments.
• Serve as liaison with other libraries.
• Select, train and supervise subordinate library staff.
• Prepare annual budget requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
