Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Education Improvement Services.

Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service list for this title.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Associate in Education Improvement Services position in the Office of Accountability, ESSA-Funded Programs. The Office of ESSA-Funded Programs is responsible for the implementation of eight different programs funded under the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) which generate approximately $1.4 billion in federal aid to New York State. This Office supports the review of District Comprehensive Improvement Plans (DCIPs) and school Comprehensive Education Plans (SCEPs). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide leadership and technical assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on the implementation of ESEA program policies, including district and school level accountability, and school improvement;
• Lead the review and approval of Consolidated Applications and program budgets;
• Participate in the review of DCIPs and SCEPs;
• Conduct on-site and desk review compliance monitoring to determine LEA compliance with programmatic and fiscal requirements, prepare reports and associated Corrective Action Plans;
• Lead the development of guidance materials and other technical assistance resources for use by LEA and State Education staff;
• Provide critical support to carrying out the mandated work of the ESSA-Funded Programs team;
• Develop and review applications for funding for Local LEAs;
• Participate in professional development activities related to the implementation of ESEA guidance; and
• Undertake special assignments as directed.


Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Verification of degree will be required for all candidates at the time of interview. This position will require 5% overnight travel.

* Leads to a maximum salary of $105,681 based on annual performance advances.
