Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Preferred qualifications include: experience using ArcGIS, QGIS, and GPS navigation.
Duties Description Duties include: conducting stream crossing surveys within assigned watersheds and managing survey data. The candidate will complete the North Atlantic Aquatic Connectivity Collaborative (NAACC) protocols training and field training, and will then begin surveying road/stream crossings, uploading crossing data into the NAACC database, and assisting with training others in survey techniques.
Other duties include assisting with updates to stream classification data, Article 15 (stream protection) regulatory compliance, and stream restoration project oversight. As needed, the candidate will assist with additional field studies relating to stream protection with duties including fish collection (usually for contaminant analysis) and freshwater mussel surveys.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment, ending no later than 3/31/20. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 3/31/20. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
