appointment.

Minimum Qualifications: There are two examinations for this position. Please note: New York State employees may qualify for both.
For employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as either:
1: two years as a Rehabilitation Assistant 2, Rehabilitation Assistant 2 (Spanish Language), Occupational Therapy Assistant 2, or Physical Therapy Assistant 2 AND a bachelor's degree in a human service field or NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse;
OR
2: one year as a Rehabilitation Assistant 2, Rehabilitation Assistant 2 (Spanish Language), Occupational Therapy Assistant 2, or Physical Therapy Assistant 2 AND a master's degree in a human service field.

For all other qualified individuals, on or before the date of the examination, the candidate must have either:
1: a bachelor’s degree in a human service field AND two years of post-bachelor’s qualifying experience;
OR
2: a master’s degree in a human service field AND one year of post-bachelor’s qualifying experience;
OR
3: a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling.
* For the purpose of these examinations, human service field includes disciplines related to the following: addiction studies; child and family studies; communication disorders; community health; education; gerontology; health administration; human services; nursing; nutrition; occupational therapy; physical therapy; psychology; recreation therapy, including art, dance, drama, and music; rehabilitation counseling; social work; and sociology.
** Qualifying Experience: To qualify for the examination you must have professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions. Internship experience does not count if it was credited toward the qualifying degree

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement active treatment programs in the area of vocational skills development for individuals who reside at the RIT 1, with the future goal of facilitating the full inclusion of individuals in the community as it relates to work and employment.
• Develops and implements appropriate and innovative activities that support vocational skills acquisition in a variety of settings, including but not limited to the classroom, the residence, the community, classroom-without-walls opportunities and so forth.
• Ensures compliance with various agencies’ regulatory oversight relevant to vocational skills training programs (Dept. of Labor, OSHA, Dept. of Health, etc.).
• Trains and works with direct care staff and support staff assigned to classroom & residential setting.
• Whenever possible, attends and participates in individuals’ meetings (annual, quarterly, special) and various other meetings regarding individuals’ services/programs and team concerns.
• As specified by regulations, facility standards and policies, completes the following:
? Evaluations and written assessments with accurate findings, strengths, needs, objectives and recommendations for addressing identified needs.
? Develops and implements program goals, revising as needed.
? Models correct implementation of program goals.
? Collects, monitors, analyzes, and summarizes data – writing monthly and quarterly notes.
• Works as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Other duties as assigned.
