Minimum Qualifications Possession of a 2A wastewater treatment plant certification is required.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the park managers for Hamlin Beach State Park, the incumbent will serve as a wastewater treatment plant chief operator and may supervise subordinate staff in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance activities. Duties include but are not limited to: monitor computerized control panels, gauges, and flow meters diagnosing alarms; maintain influent screens, tanks, pumps and take samples of raw, and/or semi-treated wastewater as required by regulating agencies; perform standardized chemical tests, such as chlorine residual and dissolved oxygen calibration of on-site measuring devices and dosing systems; adjust valves, gates, pumps, and other equipment to regulate flow of influent through the treatment process; record samples taken, tests performed and results, and action taken to meet the requirements of the regulating agencies; compile reporting documentation to be submitted to regulating agencies, maintain inventory of equipment and requisition materials to ensure continuous plant operations, perform a variety of maintenance tasks in a wastewater treatment plant and the surrounding areas of the plant, such as removing and cleaning screens, filters, tanks and pumps and filters; may supervise wastewater treatment plant operators, and assist with semi-skilled trades staff performing maintenance activities. In addition, the incumbent will perform various other maintenance activities throughout the park as needed, including, but not limited to, minor electrical tasks (changing switches and light fixtures, light bulbs, breakers), minor plumbing work, operate power-driven machinery, painting and grounds maintenance. The incumbent will supervise seasonal employees performing park maintenance when needed. The incumbent will provide prompt, courteous and professional service to our patrons.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
• The incumbent will be required to work a variable schedule including weekends, holidays, days and evenings, especially during peak operating season between April and October.
