Minimum Qualifications Candidates with graduate-level coursework in public administration are preferred, but undergraduates with strong writing and analytical skills may be considered. The preferred candidate should have an interest in public policy and criminal justice.
Duties Description The Public Protection Unit is responsible for the oversight of criminal justice and public safety agency budgets. This internship opportunity is directly related to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, the Office of Indigent Legal Services, the Office of Victim Services, and the Judiciary.
Internship Opportunity Details:
• Analyzing the fiscal, administrative, programmatic, and social impacts of legislation and preparing memorandum representing the Division of Budget’s position;
• Performing in-depth studies on programs, issues, and operations in assigned agencies, including, but not limited to topics such as Raise the Age, Statewide Expansion of the Hurrell-Harring settlement, and distribution of Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) funding;
• Assisting in the monitoring of agency spending and hiring through review of monthly spending reports, spending requests, and hiring requests.
