Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Liberal Arts and Sciences; Master’s degree preferred in Business, public administration, liberal arts, social sciences, urban planning, or similar fields.
Relevant experience required: Minimum 5-10 years direct, extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: economic development, government, planning, public administration, or related business or not-for-profit area.
• Knowledge required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal; knowledge of MS Office: with excellent Microsoft Word skills required, plus Excel and PowerPoint; excellent follow-up skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, take initiative, and work independently. Familiarity with business, non-profit, and governmental agencies and general knowledge of Upper Manhattan geography and economy. Strong attention to detail and independent follow through are highly important
Duties Description Basic Function: Develops and implements a comprehensive development program for the Harlem CDC service area, encouraging community participation and cooperation, providing financial and technical assistance to not-for-profit organizations engaged in economic development and housing, and initiates, evaluates, reviews and recommends projects for the Harlem CDC service area.
Work Performed:
•Encourage community participation and cooperation in the development of programs within Harlem CDC’s service area
•Develop and maintain community partnerships and relationships.
•Represent Harlem CDC at relevant meetings, conferences as directed.
•Maintain an overview of community and economic development initiatives in greater Harlem and Washington Heights including ESD and other State resources.
•Serve as Digital Liaison for Harlem CDC’s web content including social media.
•Manage all promotional media in collaboration NYS branding department to ensure the HCDC and ESD brands are presented in an effective, professional manner and within branding guidelines.
•Promote tourism development and the marketing of Harlem through community partners and in coordination with I Love New York.
•Provide technical assistance to community stakeholders engaged in economic development initiatives
•Performs other related duties, as required
