Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Senior Attorney or one year of permanent, competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, AND admission to the New York State Bar.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Deputy Counsel, Director of Litigation and eDiscovery, within the Division of Legal Affairs, the position provides the following legal services to ITS program areas, project teams, IT Clusters and executive management. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Supports the Office of Labor Relations by providing advice and guidance on compliance and enforcement issues impacting employment, including but not limited to; Taylor Law, Human Rights Law, ADA, FMLA and employee rights and responsibilities and resulting arbitrations and/or administrative hearings;
• Represent the agency in administrative adversarial matters, including interviewing and preparing witnesses, presenting evidence and drafting necessary briefs and motions;
• Assist with the management of the agency’s litigation portfolio, including preparation of periodic status reports, managing relationship with the Office of the Attorney General, and supporting litigation needs of partner agencies.

Additional Comments This is an Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) position in the Chief General Counsel’s Office and will be located in the Swan Street Building, Core 4, Empire State Plaza, Albany.

This position is pending Division of the Budget approval. Some positions may require fingerprinting.

Candidates must also have a current registration to practice law in New York State and must maintain that registration for continued employment. Disbarment or loss of registration shall result in termination or suspension of employment.
