Seven years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.

Promotional Qualifications:

One year of experience as a Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content).

Duties Description Under the direction of the Public Information Specialist 3 (Digital Content), G-25, the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content), G-23, performs a variety of supervisory duties in digital media functions for the agency. In this role, the incumbent supervises and supports information technology and graphic design staff in managing, developing, coordinating and evaluating digital media activities designed to promote and support the programs and initiatives of the Office of the New York State Comptroller.


· Assist in executing digital strategies for the Office of the State Comptroller websites, social media, video and other marketing initiatives, in consultation with the Public Information Specialist 3 (Digital Content), Public Information Manager (Digital Content), Assistant Comptroller of Communications and Digital Media, and the Director of Communications.


- Supervise the collection and review of data used in metric reports and presentations for agency executives, including the Executive Governance Board and the Online Services Council.

- Recommend and help to implement changes to site architecture, layout, and content based on website analytics, usability testing and agency strategic/operational priorities.

- Maintain agency-wide digital communication platform trainings, including content management software and social media.

- Assist in enforcing agency-wide clear language writing standards and suggesting modifications to the standards as necessary.

- Supervise and participate in the delivery of clear language writing training programs for OSC divisions.

- Supervise the execution of digital media and other marketing projects that deliver visually and graphically engaging content that meets the needs of intended audiences.

· Facilitate and monitor online content for the OSC websites.


- Supervise content creation for the agency’s website and social media platforms.

- Assist with updating websites, social media sites, and digital communications to ensure that information is current, fresh, informative and appealing.

- Perform quality assurance checks on work to ensure all material is free of technical and editorial issues.

- Establish and maintain work and production schedules and ensure deadlines are met, and content is accurate.

- Work with managerial, executive staff, and stakeholders to determine when to use copy, video, images other media to best communicate messages.

- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure that all editorial and graphic assets have been uploaded properly to the website.

- Train staff in writing and content development that complies with OSC branding and marketing policies and strategies.

- Monitor agency digital content to ensure that it complies with Office of the State Comptroller policies and standards.

· Supervise Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content) staff.
