Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive Qualifications:
Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media. Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content), SG-23, the Public Information Specialist 1(Digital Content), SG-18, performs a variety of duties in digital media functions for the agency to promote and support the programs and initiatives of the Office of the New York State Comptroller.
· Assist in executing digital strategies for the Office of the State Comptroller websites, social media, video and other marketing initiatives, in consultation with the Public Information Specialist 2 (Digital Content), Public Information Specialist 3 (Digital Content), Public Information Manager (Digital Content), Assistant Comptroller of Communications and Digital Media, and the Director of Communications.
- Collect and validate data used in metric reports and presentations for agency executives, including the Executive Governance Board and the Online Services Council.
- Assist in implementing changes to site architecture, layout, and content based on website analytics, usability testing and agency strategic/operational priorities.
- Comply with agency-wide clear language writing standards and suggest modifications to the standards as necessary.
- Assist in the creation of clear language writing training programs for OSC divisions.
- Assist in facilitating digital media and other marketing projects.
· Facilitate and monitor online content for the OSC websites.
- Update websites, social media sites, and digital communications to ensure that information is current, fresh, informative and appealing.
- Track feedback to OSC content on the internet and social media platforms and assists in the preparation of reports and responses, as needed.
- Perform quality assurance checks on work to ensure all material is free of technical and editorial issues.
- Complete assignments in prescribed timeframes and ensures content is accurate.
- Provide guidance to OSC staff regarding the appropriate use of copy, video, images or other media to best communicate messages.
- Properly upload all editorial and graphic assets to the website or social media source.
- Suggest new ways to repurpose existing content across Office of the State Comptroller digital media.
- Ensure that agency digital content complies with Office of the State Comptroller policies and standards.
