Salary RangeFrom $56604 to $71980 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. An associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years (respectively).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to follow best practices and style guidelines to produce high-quality and accurate work
• Strong editorial ability including: writing, research and copy editing
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to manage work of junior staff, interns, and temps
• Strong knowledge of tourism regions and attractions in New York State outside of NYC
• Strong communication, presentation, and diplomacy skills
• Must be a team player with the ability to liaise and build rapport with colleagues across functions
• Ability to interpret Google Trends and Analytics data to prioritize workload and provide input on guidelines
• A passion for travel and digital technology
• Prior experience with the Simpleview platform
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Managing Editor, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and executing all digital content for the ILoveNY.com listings database, including event listings, as well as campaigns to engage local and regional partners in creating and updating listings content for the ILoveNY.com site.
Participate in the creative development, technical implementation, and curation of online content for the I Love NY and Path Through History websites and related digital platforms.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Utilize the digital content management system to create, modify, and edit listings pages
• Review and publish listings, and updates to listings, submitted by local and regional partners
• Review and publish event listings for events happening across New York State.
• In conjunction with Digital Production Coordinator, ensure quality photography is sourced for all listings
• Manage all aspects of a 30,000+ listing database, serve as primary product owner for the database with agency’s web services vendor
• Manage and implement database workflow automation initiatives
• Act as the primary point of contact for all content partner inquiries
• Set up user accounts for partners as needed
• Provide regularly scheduled and ad hoc training on database entry and listing formatting to partners, in-person (will require travel throughout New York State)
• Create/Update training documents in Power Point/Adobe Acrobat and set-up Webex sessions
• Maintain and provide input on listings’ guidelines
• Track local partner update compliance
• Research and implement partnerships with third-party sites and vendors to improve database content
• Research events and points of interest within the state to ensure the site content is inclusive of major activities
• Follow agency policies and strategies for digital communications
• Additional duties in support of the daily operations of the digital team to be assigned as needed
Additional Comments Salary Range: $56,604 - $71,980 (plus $3,026 location pay)
Note: The starting salary for candidates with no prior State service will be at the minimum hiring rate.
*This position is temporary and will become permanent upon approval of non-competitive jurisdictional class status.
