Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have been admitted to the New York State Bar be in good standing and must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar. Strong research and writing skills are required. Knowledge of legislative and policy development process and basic understanding of New York State or municipal government is preferred but is not a requirement.
Duties Description The NYS Joint Commission on Public Ethics (“JCOPE”) seeks an individual for employment for an Associate Counsel Position:
Duties of this position include: (i) advising and assisting those under JCOPE’s jurisdiction by providing guidance, assistance, and training relating to the ethics and lobbying laws; (ii) developing policy and regulations; and (iii) assisting with investigations and administrative proceedings. The position may require occasional in-state travel.
