Minimum Qualifications For Vocational Instructor 1/SG12: Four years of appropriate trade experience and a high school diploma or GED issued by a recognized state educational authority; OR an Associates degree in a related trade area AND two years of appropriate trade experience; OR a Bachelors Degree in any area AND one year of related trade experience.
For Vocational Instructor 2/SG13: Four years of appropriate trade experience AND a minimum of 9 college credits in pedagogy core coursework earned from a New York State Education Department approved program. These must include 3 college credits in each of the following areas; human development and learning; teaching students with disabilities and special health needs; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and English; OR an Associate's degree in a related trade exp or coursework as described above and one year of related trade experience.
For Vocational Instructor 3/SG15: Initial certification as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.
For Vocational Instructor 4/SG17: Professional certification as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.
Duties Description Vocational Instructors will utilize both professional and practical training and experience, plan lessons and instruct and evaluation the performance and progress of learners. Prepare course outlines, prepare daily/weekly lesson plans, conduct a schedule of instruction and supervise practical applications of formal instruction.
