Minimum Qualifications Applicant must pass a typing test and be able to accurately (96%) type 30 words per minute. Documentation must be provided that, within the last five years, you have been successful on a five-minute typing performance test. Documentation of the test results must be on official letterhead or an official notice of the results of a typing test administered by an acceptable source: Personnel offices of State agencies, county, city, town or village municipalities which administer the Type Test developed by the Department of Civil Service OR from a school, college, university or learning institution. Official test results from a high school, college or university keyboarding course*. Official test results from BOCES or EEOC program*.
Duties Description The Division of Materials Management is filling an Office Assistant 1 - Keyboarding (Seasonal) position to assist with office assistant duties for the Bureau of Solid Waste Management, Bureau of Waste Reduction & Recycling, Bureau of Hazardous Waste & Radiation Management and Bureau of Pesticides Management within the Division of Materials Management. The Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding in this position will provide administrative support and assistance to these Bureaus and Division staff as directed.
The Office Assistant 1 - Keyboarding (Seasonal) will work under the direct supervision of a Secretary 1 to provide essential administrative and secretarial support to several key Bureau & Division programs. Specific responsibilities will include:
assuring timely and accurate completion of Bureau & Division correspondence; Commissioner letters; iexpense reports; travel arrangements; telephone coverage for the Bureau and occasionally for the Division; appropriately responding to the public; processing and delivery of mail; maintenance of certain databases; and e-filing of key documents.
All tasks are to be performed in accordance with Division policies and procedures.
Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 3/31/20. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to termination date indicated. Actual work schedule may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
