Salary RangeFrom $40622 to $68192 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of theory, principles, techniques of teaching.
Working knowledge of agency policies, procedure governing group.
Working knowledge of subject matter taught.
Ability to develop effective relations with individual learners.
Ability to motivate learners.
Ability to apply different teaching methods to meet situation.
Ability to effectively verbally communicate ideas to learners.
Ability to evaluate and record learners performance and progress.
Ability to plan and implement outlines and lesson plans.
Level 1 - Bachelor's degree including satisfactory completion of the semester hours required for the teaching specialty.
Level 2 - Bachelor's degree with provisional teaching certificate appropriate to the teaching specialty.
Level 3 - Bachelor's degree with 30 additional graduate hours and a permanent teaching certificate appropriate to teaching specialty.
Level 4 - Permanent teaching certificate appropriate to the teaching specialty and two-years of teaching experience in the appropriate specialty area.
Spanish language meeting qualifications must pass oral test designed to test ability to speak and understand conversational Spanish as spoken in the major Spanish speaking areas of New York State.
Duties Description Make plans for teaching assignments with overall course objectives. Determines learning needs, abilities and other relevant facts. Administer standard tests to assess learners abilities. Utilizes approved standard syllabus to meet special needs of the group. Prepares daily/weekly lesson plan, scheduling each phase of each lesson following course outline. From daily lesson plan, determine need for text books, workbooks, teaching aids, materials, equipment. Conducts supervision in class session using daily lesson plans as a guide. Instruction is typically individualized as learners are usually performing at different stages in a course. By the deployment of appropriate teaching techniques motivates interest stimulates participation of each learner. Maintain control, provides assistance, use of variety of teaching techniques. Evaluates, develop tests both oral and written. Prepare written reports, observe conduct and critique performance.
