Minimum Qualifications Possession of a valid Class A Driver's License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and meet requirements of the New York State Thruway Authority for tandem trailer operation.
Pursuant to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Act, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required. Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug and alcohol testing will be required.
Note: Please include a copy of your valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license with your application. Must be able to supply medical certificate if you’re the candidate of choice.
Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
• Operate and drive a tractor-trailer unit to one or more destinations.
• Assist with loading and unloading of the trailer.
• Ensure the tractor and trailer are maintained.
• Monitor gauges and check fluid levels and tire pressures.
• Work in the warehouse at such times that deliveries are not required.
• Perform tasks in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
Operating Needs:
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class A Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Possession of an Interstate Commerce Commission Certificate for the operation of a tractor trailer and continuously meet requirements set by the NYS Thruway Authority for tandem tractor operation.
• Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds.
• Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Successful completion of OSHA forklift training and certification is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and comply with established safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work in environments of fluctuating temperatures including limited periods outside, year-round.
• May be required to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Possession and maintenance of a valid Class A Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Please include a copy of your driver's license with your application.
Shift: Tractor-Trailer Drivers typically work weekdays (Monday through Friday), however, on occasion overnight travel may be required to meet the needs of the program. This position will be utilized as operationally required. Hours are an on-call basis with no minimum weekly requirement.
